HANS HANSEN

(1914 – 2004)

One of the most important Danish silversmiths created in 1906 in Holding by Hans Hansen (1884 – 1940). His son Karl Gustav Hansen (1914 – 2002) took over the company in 1940. He was a sculptor and an extremely talented silversmith. In 1932 while still working for his father he created a collection of jewellery called « Future », this collection in the line of the functionalism movement made him worldwide recognized (in the wake of World War I, an international functionalist movement both in architecture and design emerged as part of the wave of Modernism). He also collaborated with extremely talented silversmiths such as Bent Gabrielsen, Anni and Bent Knudsen. In 1992 the company joined Georg Jensen.
