Othmar ZSCHALER

(Swiss 1930-2023)

Othmar Zschaler was a renowned Swiss artist and jeweler known for his unique and innovative creations in the field of jewelry design. His work is often described as "abstract jewels" due to its distinctive and avant-garde style.

He employed geometric shapes, clean lines, and bold forms, creating pieces that are both visually striking and conceptually intriguing. His pieces are known for their sculptural quality, often resembling miniature works of art rather than traditional jewelry

Born in Switzerland, Zschaler was drawn to jewelry making from a young age, inspired by his family's artisanal traditions. He honed his skills through an apprenticeship with master goldsmiths and formal education at a prestigious design school.

Zschaler established his own atelier, quickly gaining a reputation for creating pieces that blend traditional techniques with contemporary aesthetics. His intricate designs and flawless execution have earned him numerous accolades and a dedicated clientele of collectors and connoisseurs.

In addition to his professional work, Zschaler is passionate about education and mentorship. He conducts workshops and seminars to share his expertise with aspiring goldsmiths. Outside of his craft, he enjoys hiking, photography, and exploring Switzerland's cultural heritage, often drawing inspiration from nature for his designs.

His abstract designs are showcased globally, gracing both private collections and prestigious museums, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the Schmuckmuseum in Pforzheim.
