MICHEL LOUWETTE

Extremely talented Belgian goldsmith artist. (Born 1943)

Studied Sculpture and metalwork at La Cambre in Brussels. (Teacher the artist Felix Roulin). He Graduated in 1967.

He joined Fernand Demaret’s team, a famous jewelry store located in Brussels which vocation was the promotion of artist jewelry.

Together with Fernand Demaret, Bernard François and Claude Wesel, They form the « Demaret workshop » « Groupe Atelier Demaret ».

Their association was the first real opening in Belgium to the commercial sector to modern jewellery. By using the lost wax technique, they were able to combine different elements into an abstraction while still creating a baroque style.

In 1970 together with Bernard François and Claude Wesel, they created an independent workshop in (Foret) Brussels.

In 1975, he opened with Bernard François the “NEON” gallery (opening on October 1975).

He taught at the ESAPVE in Mons (Ecole supérieure des arts plastiques et visuels de l'Etat) and at St Marie in Brussels.
He partipates to many exhibitions, nationals and internationals (Osaka, Ny, Tokyo…)

In the early 1980’ he quit the Neon gallery, travelled to South America and moved to Motril in Spain.
