Born in Belgium, Gabrielle Haardt, begins sculpture in 1960. She first shapes portraits, then she sculpts her first abstract forms, she first works in earth, then in plaster, and then she makes flow in bronze. In 1970, she began a series of large felt drawings on paper, and she also fashioned her first jewelry, which she began to exhibit regularly in galleries in Brussels and in Belgium. From 1974, she regularly went to work in Pietrasanta, near Carrara, in Italy, where she supervised the making of her marble or bronze sculptures and met many sculptors. Her favorite themes, for sculptures as for jewelry, are lovers, women, dancers, hands …
In 1975, she presented her first solo exhibition of sculptures and jewelry at the Pierre Vanderborght Gallery in Brussels. Shortly after, she began to participate in numerous group exhibitions and several international jewelry competitions (in 1978 her pendant “The Last Judgment” receives an award at the 25th De Beers International competition). In 1984, she also put herself in pastel and began a long series of self-portraits and portraits while continuing to create numerous jewels, sculptures, drawings, tableware … In 1992, a large exhibition of her works was organized at the museum of Ixelles. From 2000 she participated in several exhibitions at the Galerie Bastien in Brussels. In 2001 his sculpture Hommage à Paul Delvaux was installed at Brussels Airport. In 2003, his latest sculpture, L’Extase, was presented to the public during his last solo exhibition at the Galerie Quadri in Brussels.
