(1914 – 2003)
Sigurd Persson was a Swedish professor, precious blacksmith and sculptor. He counts as one of the 20th century’s biggest Swedish designers. In 1942, he opened a studio in the city of Stockholm. Persson continued his activity until his death and showed, during his career, a wide register and designed objects in silver, stainless steel, cast iron, enamel, glass and plastics. The works often draw inspiration from nature with stylized organic traits. His work is represented in several museums worldwide, including the National Museum and the Nordic Museum in Stockholm, Det Danske Kunstindistrimuseum in Copenhagen, the Kunstindustimuseet in Oslo, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
